The hillside town of Lanciano in the province of Chieti, in Abruzzo

The town of Lanciano is 40km from the Grotta del Saraceno holiday village. The town itself dates from the XII century. Nearby there are traces of Neolithic settlements dating from the V millennium B.C. The main tourist attractions include the Basilica of Madonna del Ponte, the church of Santa Maria Maggiore and the military architecture including the Porta San Biagio and the Porta Diocleziana gates and a host of palaces and historical villas.
