Maiella National Park

The Maiella National Park was established in 1991 and it is one of the three national parks in Abruzzo. The Mount Amaro has the highest peak (2,793 metres). The park lies in the provinces of L'Aquila, Chieti and Pescara. The national park is home to numerous natural reserves including the Monte Rotondo Reserve, the Maiella Orientale Reserve, the Valle dell’Orfento Reserve and the Lama Bianca di Sant’Eufemia Reserve in Maiella.  The small scale manufacturing of arts and crafts is very common within the park limits and it is easy come across cloth, wood and stone working studios and workshops.
