The Abruzzo, Lazio and MoliseNational Park lies principally in the province of Abruzzo but also extends to Frosinone in Lazio and Isernia in Molise. It is internationally famous for its role in the conservation of some of the most important, Italian animal species including the wolf, the Abbruzzese chamois and the Marsican brown bear. It is celebrated for its dedication to ecology and conservation. The Pantaniello and the Scanno natural lakes are also part of the park. The first is situated in a State reserve in between the peaks of Mount Godi and the second, the result of a landslide, is at the foot of the town called Frattura, in the borough of Scanno.
There are lots of things to do within the park limits, including horse riding, tekking, canoeing, bird-watching, cycling, bathing in the Scanno lake and skiing.
